Press Release
KHAIRPUR, November 3, 2026:

The Department of Pakistan Studies at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, organized a thought-provoking Poster Competition 2026 on the theme “Social and Religious Tolerance” at the New Academic Block, providing a vibrant platform for students to express their creativity, intellectual understanding and commitment to a peaceful and inclusive society.

The competition featured an impressive collection of creatively designed posters by BS Part-III students, reflecting their originality, intellectual depth and awareness of contemporary social challenges. Through their artistic presentations, the young participants highlighted important issues, including religious intolerance, gender inequality, class discrimination, misinformation, social injustice and the need for peaceful coexistence.

The exhibition reflected the remarkable creative potential, critical thinking and social consciousness of SALU students, demonstrating how young minds can communicate powerful messages of peace, humanity, diversity and mutual respect through visual expression.

Meritorious Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Vice Chancellor of SALU, visited the exhibition and personally examined the posters. During his interaction with the participants, students enthusiastically explained the concepts, messages and social significance behind their creative work. They confidently responded to questions and shared their perspectives on contemporary social issues.

The Vice Chancellor listened attentively to the students, appreciated their confidence and intellectual maturity, and expressed immense satisfaction with the quality of their presentations. He particularly admired the enthusiasm with which BS Part-III students articulated their ideas and demonstrated their awareness of national and societal challenges.

Congratulating the students and faculty members, Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk remarked that the exhibition was a remarkable reflection of the talent and creative strength of Shah Abdul Latif University.

He observed that SALU students possess exceptional talent, creativity and the intellectual ability to understand and address the challenges facing society. He described the exhibition as more than a display of posters, calling it a meaningful expression of young minds committed to building a peaceful, tolerant and progressive Pakistan.

The Vice Chancellor emphasized that the confidence, knowledge and presentation skills demonstrated by the students were highly encouraging and reflected the university’s academic potential.

He further stated that universities must go beyond conventional classroom teaching and provide opportunities for students to develop creativity, critical thinking, leadership and social responsibility. He observed that tolerance, respect for diversity, equality and peaceful coexistence are essential foundations of a progressive society.

“These talented students are the future of Pakistan. Their ideas, confidence and creativity give us hope for a brighter and more inclusive society,” he remarked, encouraging them to continue developing their intellectual and creative abilities.

Recognizing the significance of the students’ efforts, the Vice Chancellor recommended that the exhibition should not remain confined to the New Academic Block. He suggested extending the display for two additional days across other faculties of the university, enabling a larger number of students and teachers to appreciate the creative work and engage with its messages.

He also encouraged faculty members from different departments to visit the exhibition and interact with the participating students. He further proposed displaying selected posters in the Central Library and at future university events to ensure that the students’ creative contributions receive wider recognition.

To enhance the visibility of students’ work beyond the campus, he suggested preparing a brief 20-second video presentation for each poster, explaining its central message, and uploading these presentations to the university website.

Prof. Dr. Liaquat Ali Chandio, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, appreciated the students’ thoughtful presentations and the department’s initiative. He observed that social and religious tolerance forms the foundation of a peaceful, democratic and progressive society. He stressed the importance of encouraging dialogue, critical thinking and respect for different cultural and religious identities.

Dr. Inayatullah Bhatti, Chairman of the Department of Pakistan Studies, highlighted the academic significance of the competition, stating that Pakistan Studies extends beyond historical and constitutional knowledge to include responsible citizenship, national integration, democratic values and social harmony. He appreciated the students for translating important social themes into meaningful visual messages.

Dr. Siraj Ahmed Soomro, Associate Professor and Coordinator of the event, explained that the competition was designed to encourage students to communicate socially relevant ideas through artistic expression. He appreciated the enthusiasm, teamwork and dedication of BS Part-III students and acknowledged the support of the university administration and faculty members.

The posters were evaluated by a three-member jury comprising Dr. Aashique Ali Lashari, Department of Economics; Dr. Toba Shafaq, Department of Archaeology; and Dr. Zeenat Kanwal Shar, Institute of Commerce and Management, SALU.
